  1. 1/ The speaker of the poem is the merchant'wife.
2/ The speaker compared herself to the butterflies because butterflies are only found in autumn season by the time her husband left for a long journey, the whole world seemed miserable at his absence so, the speaker feels as she has grown older like a butterfly over the "five months" of her husband's absence

3/The poem suggests that love might sometimes feel clearest and strongest when people can't be near their beloved ones, as the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder. This means that when people we love are not with us, we love them even more, and it also means that couples in long distance relationships experience greater levels of intimacy for instance in the poem a year after their wedding, her husband left for a long journey a year later, she found that she was so much in love with him that the whole world seemed miserable at his absence even the "monkeys," to her ears, "make sorrowful noise overhead".

  2. 1/Wife of The River Merchant us the speaker of the poem
2/In the poem The River-Merchant's Wife, the speaker comper herself to butterflies because butterflies represent for the speaker the absence of her husband. Like the falling leaves and the coming autumn, they are another symbol of love absence and loneliness. And next these guys are yellow. Ordinarily, that would be a pretty, happy color for a butterfly to be. When they appear with the leaves fall early this autumn.
3/" Absence makes the heart grow fonder" means that when someone or something is far away, one realizes how much one loves or misses them or it, and in the poem the couple miss eachother so much that the chearfull noise of the monkey was sorrowful noise for the wife and the husband has to dragg his feet when he didn't want means that the husband had to go even if he didn't want to.

  4. 1.The speaker of the poem "the river merchant's wife:A letter" is the young girl addressing the letter to her husband. With casual tone, she recalls her childhood reminiscence and the story of the time two of them spent together.
    2. In the poem the butterfly represents absence of the speaker's husband. The paired up butterfly reminds her of her husband's absence. The speaker describes the butterflies changing with the seasons, noting they are "already yellow with August".The word "already" indicates how long her husband had been away. The speaker undergoes a series of transformations within the poem. She changes from a happy little girl to a conflicted teenage wife, then to a blissful young lover, and finally to a mature but lonely woman like a butterfly ,from caterpillar to the butterfly.
3."Absence makes the heart grow fonder"which means feeling more affection towards the loved ones when parted from each other. As in the text, the young girl feels the loneliness when her husband departed at the age of sixteen.Even the cheerful noise made by monekys were sorrow noise for her.The paired up butterflies made her remind of her husband. The Absence or distance can show how much love is there in the relationship. In the poem the girl mentions how much she misses and waits for her husband to return .

  5. 1.The speaker of the poem is the river merchant's wife.
2.According to the poem,"The River Merchant's Wife:Letter",the wife compares herself to the butterflies as she witnesses the sight of the paired butterflies at the west side of her garden growing into yellow as the season changes just like how she is growing older. Here, she is hurted by the fact that she is also aging just like the paired butterflies but she is growing lonely, without her husband unlike the paired butterflies.
Then,as mentioned in the poem, the wife waits for her husband to return and is even ready to meet him on the half way while the husband returns.
3.According to the statement,"Absence makes the heart grow fonder",one's absence makes us realise how important he or she is and makes our heart fond of him or her.As per the poem, the absence of the husband makes the wife to love him more and more and this absence makes the wife's love towards the husband more deeper and deeper than before. The wife has started to miss her merchant husband who is been away from her and the home for about 5 months. In absence of husband, the wife has started to feel sad even when she hears the cheerful noices of the monkeys. She has even started to feel sad when she witnesses the paired butterflies growing together when she is not. These are some of things that she has started to feel when she isnt with her husband. Her heart is always pounding for her husband when he isn't present and his absence is making her heart grow fonder towards him and she is really loving her husband. So,that's how an absence of a person makes heart grow fonder and we can even fall head over heels for someone.

    2. According to the poem, the speaker compares herself to butterflies . Here butterflies represent absence of her husband . The speaker describes how the butterflies changes according to seasons like in autumn the butterflies are already yellow where the butterflies was changed from a caterpillar. Like wise the speaker uses above mentioned example on butterflies to indicate how long her husband has been far away from her. And the speaker also goes through a lot of transformation as this poem begins with her childhood life and end as a married life like how butterflies changes from a caterpillar to a butterfly.

3." Absence makes the heart grow fonder" means that when our loved one is far away from us , we know how much love we have for them. Not only that the cheerful noise made by the monkeys were sorrow noise for her as she misses her husband . The distance in a relationship shows how much they have bond with each other .

    2. The speaker compare herself to the butterflies because she is lonely and misses her husband who is far away from her unlike the paired butterfly. Her husband's absence is compared to how long the caterpillar which are found in spring season, takes to turn into butterflies in autumn.
It hurts her to know that she is getting old and waits for her husband's return. She is willing to wait for husband in the middle of his journey if he was ever to return.
    3. According to the statement "Absence makes the heart grow fonder," it means that our affection will grow in the absence of the loved ones. In this poem, we can see that the merchant's wife misses the merchant very much and her affection towards him increases during his absence that the cheerful voice of the monkey was sorrowful for her and the paired butterfly remind her of him and she misses him very much. She was already in love with him that his absence made him love him madly. That's how the absence of a person can make the feeling of the other person to grow.

The wife describes how far has he gone with the caterpillars in spring turned into a yellow butterfly in autumn.
She is aging just like a paired butterfly without him being lonely and missing his absence where it reminds her of their childhood memories. She is willing to wait for her husband to return home even in the middle of his journey.

    3) According to the given statement, " Absence makes the heart grow fonder " it means the absence of your love makes you perceive how much you care about and grows more affection. In the poem, the husband has to leave for his wife even if he doesn't want to when they are finally getting closer with their feelings and affection to each other. Additionally, in the absence of her husband makes her sad enough to hear the cheerful voice of monkeys sorrowful in her ears. Where ever she sees a paired butterfly enjoying their time together, it reminds her of the merchant. This supports that the absence of your lover makes your feelings grow and care about it.

Due to the pain in her heart even though the monkey's voice is considered as a cheerful sound, she feels sad by hearing the voice of the monkey. Again when saw paired butterfly growing together she feels very sad ash husband was not with her. Thus the absence of someone which are loved by us will make our heart grow fonder and will help to realize the true love for them.
